Why Wallets?

In early 2004, when Chika was an intern at R.E.Load bags, she was sat in front of a scrap bin and told to make something. An hour later, she held a wallet and was encouraged to make more. Having a limitless supply of free cordura and vinyl scraps doubled the reasons to keep going.

Many wallets later, Chika met Jean, and making her best business decision to date, asked her to partner in the design, manufacture, and selling of their growing line of products.

Now Chika&Jean are ready to launch a new line of accessories! Their first truly collaborative line. They are excited and proud to present  randLCanvas - handsome color & material choices, simple yet clever construction, all made from start to finish by Chika&Jean in their Seattle studio.

Why all the names?

Chikabird, randL, Trouble, and sometimes Grumpy.  Back when we didn't think this was going anywhere, it seemed amusing to be a little company trying to look like a big company. Now it's just confusing, but also handy when we feel like making girly stuff one day, and unisex stuff the next.
